Flakes ready for D-II playoffs

November 16, 2006

Albany - Albany State has been using a two quarterback system for much of the season.

Kisan Flakes though flew solo against Fort Valley State with fellow quarterback Terrance Ransom out with a knee injury.

Though the final decision will be made a gametime, Kisan Flakes will likely start Saturday's playoff game at Newberry.

Flakes has given head coach Mike White a case of indigestion a time or two this season with some of his passes.

But the quarterback knows if the Rams are to win their first round playoff game, the offense is going to have to play mistake free football.

Kisan Flakes said "First game I came out and messed up a little bit with key fumbles that I shouldn't have been doing." Second game I did a decent job. This game is the playoffs and I would like to set the pace and do some damage in the playoffs."

Albany State defensive end Alton Pettway has won thee SIAC's defensive player of the year for the second year in a row.

Pettway led the SIAC and NCAA Division II with 14 1/2 quarterback sacks.

Pettway is the only member of the SIAC champion Rams to make the SIAC's first team all-conference team.

Offensive lineman Michael Livingston, linebacker Eric Crosby, defensive back Rod Whipple and punter Randy Allen made the second team.
