Tifton - - Boys living in one of the Georgia Sheriff's Youth Homes got a special gift Thursday from Tift County's Sheriff.

Beth Tillman, who operates the Boy's Ranch in Hahira, thought she was just coming to speak at a Sertoma Club Meeting in Tifton.

The ranch is one of four Georgia homes providing shelter to children abused or neglected by their families.

It was started in 1960 by Georgia sheriffs.

"It is because of the benevolence and the generosity of Georgians through their Sheriff and their Sheriff's Office that this system of childcare has evolved into what it is today," says J. Terry Norris of Georgia Sheriff's Youth Homes.

Tift County Sheriff Gary Vowell showed his generosity today.

He presented a new tractor to the Boy's Ranch to use for farming.

The Sertoma Club also presented the Youth Homes organization with $3,600.
