Albany - When Darton College won the right to host the National Junior College women's soccer tournament, Darton fans dreamed of watching the Lady Cavaliers win the national title on their home field.
That will not be the case as last year's national runner-ups did not qualify for this year's tournament.
The National Junior College women's soccertournament will start Thursday at Darton's soccer complex.
The tournament started Wednesday night with opening ceremonies and banquet for the eight participating teams.
Monroe Community College from Rochester, New York, who beat Darton for last year's national championship, is the top seed.
Tournament director Martha Snow says everything is ready to go for a great weekend of soccer action.
Tournament director Martha Snow said "We have got great kids. A great group of folks who started arriving yesterday afternoon. They have been real easy to work with. They went out and practiced on the field today and we look forward to great competition."
