Thomasville-  A Thomas County Jail inmate was found dead in his cell Thursday.  Initial reports indicate the 54 year old Meigs man had a history of cardiac problems.

Jerry Lee Walden was arrested in August on aggravated battery and terrorists threat charges. During Walden's arrest he complained of breathing difficulties and was taken to Archbold Memorial Hospital. Walden was later booked in the jail. Thursday morning, his cellmate heard erratic breathing.

"He had awakened sometime around 3:00 a.m. in the morning with some noises and gasping for breath. Mouth to mouth resuscitation and some other medical procedures were administered until the ambulance service got there," said Sheriff Carlton Powell, Thomas County.

Walden died later at Archbold Memorial Hospital. The GBI's investigation is standard procedure.
