Albany -- Grammy-award winning Gospel Singers Don McClurkin and CeCe Winans brightened up the Civic Center tonight. A so-so crowd of about 2,500 people showed up.

Many of the tickets were just sold today. Promoters say a lack of advance sales makes it hard to attract big names to Albany. Civic center managers say they hope to get better support from the community.

"Today's show we're doing okay. Numbers are coming in but again it was a day of show walk up. That doesn't help an artist or manager plan for long-term," said John Mazzola.

"They're annointed, powerful. They have powerful ministries and I'm just excited and just ready to experience the praises of God in this concert," said Chandra Clark.

Many people in the crowd tonight told us they think more gospel performances will bring more people to the civic center.
