Albany -- Grieving over the death of a loved one is never easy, but it's especially hard this time of the year. With the holidays approaching, experts say many people will have a very difficult time dealing with loss, but there are things you can do to help you through the holidays.

Talk to family and friends, lean on your faith, and don't feel you have to accept every invitation if you're not up to a celebration.

Tonight a panel of bereavement experts shared those tips at a seminar sponsored by Albany Community Hospice. Organizers say it's important to talk about the loss of a loved one.

"It's important for them to know there are others just like them, who care, who want help, and want to support each other," said Phyllis Colvin.

If you want to help a grieving friend, counselors suggest you go grocery shopping for them, take them for an outing, or help with chores around their house.
