Albany - Monroe quarterback Sherman Stephens is this week's Orthopaedic Associates high school player of the week.
Dr. Mark Wolgin of Orthopaedic Associates presented Stephens with his second award of the season who led the Tornadoes to an overtime win over Cairo which clinched the first region title in school history.
It was a big win for Monroe and Stephens shaing the honor by making sure they were attending the award presentation.
Stephens said "We were after the region championship. Cairo they were an undefeated team. So, that means a lot to us. That was a big win for us."
Monroe faces rival Dougherty Friday night at Hugh Mills Stadium.
