Newton - - A South Georgia church put the finishing touches on its new building Thursday.

Traveler's Rest Freewill Baptist church in Newton received a new steeple.

The brand new church seats 280 people, compared to its old building that can only seat 150 people.

The church has already held services in its new building but ministers say raising the steeple makes it official.

"It's just a milestone for the church and it's showing a job that's just about complete as far as the building program is concerned and were really excited about getting finished up so we can fill the church up," says Pastor Harold Williams.

The church will hold a dedication service Sunday at 3 p.m.
