Albany -- The Albany State football team still has a chance to make the national tournament, after going from unranked to #8 in the latest Division II Regional Rankings.
The Rams jumping forward thanks to their fifth-straight win over rival Fort Valley in the Fountain City Classic, and a fourth consecutive SIAC championship.
There is no automatic bid for the conference into the national tournament, so ASU's thirteenth title doesn't guarantee them a spot.
The top-six teams in the polls in each region make the playoffs.
The Rams have finished up their regular season, and head coach Mike White says they can only watch and wait to find out their playoff fate.
"It's the waiting game," says White. "Got to see exactly what happens this weekend. Playoffs. Pioneer Bowl. We'll be ready. We're just going to rest up and see what the scores are this weekend, and see how it plays out next Sunday."
The NCCA Division II selection process will take place on Sunday.
