Rochelle - Wilcox County all-purpose player Alfonzo Dennard received this week's high school football player of the week award from Shauna Harris of Orthopaedic Associates.
In last week's overtime win at Hawkinsville, Alfonzo Dennard caught two touchdown passes and intercepted three passes.
In his last two games against Hawkinsville, the junior has five interceptions.
Alfonzo Dennard said "They have been a rival to Wilcox County for a long time. At halftime, coach said big players step up and make plays. And I was one of the players to make a big play."
Wilcox County hosts Dooly County Friday night in a game where the loser will miss the state playoffs.
