Cordele - A woman, attempting to drop her child off with his grandmother, is instead met at the door by her ex-boyfriend. Police say he raped and beat the woman, then took off with their one year old child.

Around 8:00 Tuesday morning, Charles Harris was just starting his day. When he opened the door to go outside, he saw police cars filing into his neighborhood. He says, "I'm thinking everything's fine when I woke up this morning, but police came to my house."

What they told him was shocking. Harris says, "They say he had raped and beat his girlfriend and took the baby."

"He", being 19-year old Rafael Williams, Senior, a friend of Harris', and police were trying to track him down. "He was just like a son to me," says Harris, "'cause he would come to play with my son and they always had a good time together, but I never knew."

Never knew his friend could be suspected of such a violent crime. " It's scary because I have a daughter, you know. I wouldn't want the same thing to happen to my daughter, so it shakes you up a bit."

Williams is now in police custody, but had not been charged as of 4:30 PM Thursday. The child, Rafael Williams Junior was also found and is okay.

The victim was taken to the hospital for an examination.
