Valdosta - For the first time in the Chris Hatcher era, the Valdosta State Blazers could miss the NCAA Division II playoffs.
Saturday's overtime loss at North Alabama dropped the Blazers from 5th to 8th in the weekly Southeast Regional rankings.
Only six teams will make the playoffs and if the Blazers are going to make the postseason for a seventh straight year, they are going to need the teams ranked ahead of them to lose at least one game in the final two weeks of the regular season.
Of course, Valdosta State has to win their final two games including what will likely be their final home game of the season this Saturday against Arkansas-Monticello.
Head coach Chris Hatcher said "More importantly we can't control that. We have to beat Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday to put us in a position to make postseason play."
Valdosta State hosts Arkansas Monticello Saturday at one o'clock at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium.
