Albany - The end of October means basketball season is here.
The Darton Lady Cavaliers will open their 2006-2007 season on the road Wednesday night against the Brewton-Parker Junior Varsity.
This will be a rebuilding season for head coach Laura Blackwell whose roster includes 12 freshmen.
The only returning sophomores from last year's team that won 19 games are Whitney Williams and Jokelra Copeland.
Copeland, who played at Worth County High School, led the team in scoring as a freshman and her coach is counting on her shooting and leadership especially ealrly in the season.
Laura Blackwell said "She leads us last year with scoring. Outside scoring and also too she is left-handed. And she can do some different things and get some different looks. She is leader for us on the court this year."
The Lady Cavaliers play their home opener Friday night against North Florida Community College.
Tip-off is at 5:30PM.
