Blazers ready for trip to Lions den

October 25, 2006

Valdosta - It is always big when Valdosta State and North Alabama meet on the football field.

But Blazer head coach Chris Hatcher doesn't mince words when he calls this year's game the biggest on the Valdosta State schedule this season.

North Alabama currently is the only team in the Gulf South without a conference loss.

The Lions are also ranked second in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings which are used to determine who not only makes the playoffs but where you play.

A win for Valdosta State would not only put the Blazers in contention for fifth conference title in the last seven years.

It could also move them up from fifth in the regional rankings which could give VSU the chance to play at home for at least one game if they make the postseason.

Valdosta State head coach Chris Hatcher said "This week will be another big test for us as we play a team that is talented in all phases of the game and we have to go up there with our best effort if we are hoping to win the ballgame."

Valdosta State on the road Saturday night at North Alabama. Kick off is at 7 o'clock.
