Albany -- A new poll of the country's smartest states ranks Georgia in the bottom ten.

The Morgan Quitno Press publishing group ranked Vermont number one. Arizona came in last. Georgia finished 41st.

South Georgians say ranking this state as, essentially one of the dumbest is just not true.

"'You go to a blue ribbon school so what do you have to say about this poll?' I think it's sad and we should start studying," said Elizabeth Mills.

"I think we're very smart, we're working on the intelligence of human beings in Georgia," said Nicholas Mock.

Researchers considered such factors as classroom spending, pupil-teacher ratio, high school graduation and drop out rates, and student intelligence.
