Albany -- Two brothers described by police as armed and dangerous are behind bars. They were wanted for the home invasion and murder of an East Albany man.

Last week, two masked men burst into a mobile home on Johnson Road in the early morning hours. 61-year-old Tom Hall was shot and killed in his bedroom.

The men also tried to shoot Hall's son Cobey but the gun jammed. He was able to grab a gun from his father's room and fired at the men before they ran. Even through the masks, Hall recognized the men as brothers Derrick and Terrance Mathis.

They've been hiding out since last week. Monday, they finally turned themselves in at the Dougherty County Jail.

"It's a real good relief. For one thing, we know these guys are incarcerated and gives the family a little relief that these individuals are incarcerated also," says Sgt. Keithen Hall of APD.

The two brothers are in the Dougherty County Jail on murder, burglary, aggravated assault, and theft by taking charges.

The men are also accused of stealing Hall's 2003 Silver Chevrolet Impala. That car has not been recovered.
