Cairo -- A group of Grady Countians reached their goal to put a bell tower back on the courthouse lawn.

At the Grady County Chamber of Commerce, Wayne Hadden announced they raised $83,000. The money will restore the 2,300 pound, 98-year-old bell that fell from the bell tower 23 years ago in a fire.

The group's goal was $80,000 but they exceeded the amount thanks to a generous $33,000 donation from the Timken Company. The new tower is expected to be constructed by January.
