Brooks County - A South Georgia school teams up with the Sheriff's Department and SWAT officers to practice emergency preparedness and response.

Members of the Georgia SWAT team gathered at Brooks County High School to teach faculty members and first responders from the Brooks County Sheriff's Department how to handle emergency calls ranging from natural disasters to terrorism and school shootings.

Although it's a call officers hope they'll never receive, they feel it's better to be prepared.
"We need to be proactive with what we have, and be involved in our situation at hand. So be prepared as much as you possibly can and be aware that it can happen anywhere at anytime," says Brooks County Sheriff Richard Chafin.

Members of the South Georgia Gang Task Force were there to train teachers and faculty to recognize and respond to gang-related activity in the school and community.

Similar safety seminars are being planned for all the other schools in the county.
