Albany -- The Albany Police department is on the lookout for two brothers whom they say murdered an East Albany man early this morning.

Sixty-one year-old Tom Hall was shot dead in his home in a trailer park on Johnson Road.

His son, Coby Hall, told officers that he was awakened about 4:00 by a man who burst into his bedroom and tried to shoot him. Hall said that the pistol the assailant had mis-fired, and the weapon failed to discharge, likely saving his life.

Hall said that he fought with the intruder, who wore a mask. Hall said that he recognized the assailant, even through the mask, as an acquaintance, Terrance Mathis.

Hall told APD that he ran to his father's room to get his dad's weapon, and found his father shot dead, through the neck. Hall got his father's gun, and fired one round from the pistol, but did not know if he hit Mathis.

Hall tells officer that the other man in the home invasion was Mathis' brother, Derrick Mathis. Police have issued an alert for the Mathis brothers, who will be charged with murder, and several other charges.
