Charlotte, N.C. - Three weeks after making his Nextel Cup debut, Unadilla native David Ragan will be a full-time driver on NASCAR's premiere series next year.
And he will be driving one of the most recognized cars in Nextel Cup racing.
NASCAR team owner Jack Roush has picked David Ragan to replace Mark Martin in the team's flagship number 6 Ford Fusion.
Martin announced last week he is leaving Roush Racing after 19 years to drive a part time Nextel Cup schedule for MB2 Motorsports.
The son of former NASCAR and ARCA driver Ken Ragan, David Ragan started racing at age 11 in the Bandalero series at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
This year, the 20-year old signed with Roush Racing to drive the Craftsman Truck Series.
In addition to his own number 50 truck with Roush Racing, David Ragan has filled in for Mark Martin in the number 6 Ford F-150.
In 15 starts, David Ragan has six top ten finishes and has won a pole.
He is scheduled to drive four of the remaining six Nextel cup races this year and will make his debut in the number 6 Ford in February at Daytona.
