Macon--The country's commander visited Georgia this evening.

President Bush greeted hundreds of supporters at the Wilson Convention center in Macon.

He came to show his support for Republican Mac Collins who is running for Congress.

Bush discussed the importance of keeping taxes low and explained why he believes the US should not pull out of Iraq until the job there is done.

"If we're to do our most important job which is to protect the American people, we must make sure we deal with threats before they hurt us, that's one of the fundamental changes of September 11th," says Bush.

The president also said the US needs to become less dependent on foreign oil. He says he supports state leaders' push to develop new technology that will enable Georgia and the rest of the country to create alternative fuels.
