Albany-  Haz Mat experts tested a suspicious substance that forced the evacuation of the District Health Department headquarters Tuesday afternoon.  Workers at the Southwest Georgia Health District Administration building on North Jackson Street in Albany had to evacuate the building a little after two o'clock.

A clerk found an unusual powder-like substance when she opened an envelope that came in the mail.  To protect everyone in the building, the Health Department enacted their suspicious mailing protocol and evacuated employees into the parking lot. Signs were placed on the doors, warning people not to enter.

Albany Police called in a Hazardous Material Specialist to test the package.  They're awaiting results to determine what the substance is.
