Teens have a new curfew in Remerton

October 5, 2006

Remerton - The City of Remerton has passed a curfew for juveniles under the age of 17.

City officials and residents have expressed concern over crimes committed by and to juveniles between the late night and early morning hours.

At tonight's City Council meeting, they voted to establish an ordinance that would place teens 16 and under on a curfew between 10 PM and 6 AM Sunday through Thursday and 11 PM through 6 AM Friday and Saturday.

Juveniles would be exempt from the curfew if accompanied by an adult or coming from work, a church, or school function.

Remerton City Council and Police hope the new ordinance will help promote parental control while keeping their streets safe after dark.
