    The rate increased because of seasonal factors, such as the summer job loss among non-contract school workers and temporary layoffs, primarily in manufacturing. There were 60,500 jobs in Albany in June, down by 300, or 0.5 percent, from 60,800 in May. Most of the loss came in state government and the service-related industries.More >>

Albany -- The Albany Museum of Art (AMA) will host an opening for its newest and one of its "hottest" exhibitions, Southern Fried Glass on Thursday, October 12th in the Haley Gallery.

Southern Fried Glass consists of various works from glass artists Ralph Harvey, Tadashi Torrii, Charles Wells, Chris Fiertner, Carlton Potts, Jeremy Alford and Kelly Robertson.

Glass blowing artists of Southern Fried Glass will showcase their art and artisanship at the AMA the night of the opening with an exciting glass blowing demonstration. The exhibition opening, catered by Harvest Moon, will be from 7pm - 9.pm.

Admission for the event is $10 for Non-Members, $5 for the General Membership, and Free to our Patron Members.

On Friday, October 13th, glass blowers featured in Southern Fried Glass will be at the AMA to demonstrate their craft with a second glass blowing demonstration from 10am - 4pm.

This event will also include guided tours of Southern Fried Glass. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children.
