Cairo -- A Grady County man on trial for his role in a brutal murder is found guilty of aggravated assault.

Jurors deliberated seven and a half hours before finding Humberto Gomez not guilty of murder, but guilty of aggravated assault in the murder of Ramiro Perez. Gomez was one of two men charged.

Perez's mutilated body was found in this mobile home outside of Cairo last June. Perez had been repeatedly stabbed and was found with a fork still in his neck and a knife stuck in his head.

A second suspect, Humberto's brother, Arnulfo Gomez was believed to have been responsible for the murder, but fled the country.
