Albany - The very first Wild Friday event at the Parks of Chehaw has been canceled. Special events coordinator Sherrell Byrd says the park had to cancel the Georgia Swamp Fest because of poor ticket sales.
The three remaining Wild Friday events, Date with a Rhino, Rockin' with the Reptiles and Birds of Prey Preview Party are still on schedule.
Those who come out will get to be up close and actually pet the rhinos, and learn all about new African Reptiles that will be added to the zoo.
"It's nice to learn about what's right here in your back yard, but at the same point and time it's nice to learn about what else is out there," said Assistant Curator Ben Roberts.
"People have seen us during the day, now they'll have the opportunity to see us at night and be able to have these close encounters with the animals," said Special Events Coordinator Sherrell Byrd.
People who come to the Birds of Prey preview party will be among the very first people to see the exhibit, as well as get the chance to meet the famous wildlife expert Jim Fowler.
Date with a Rhino is scheduled for October 13th
Rockin' with reptiles is scheduled for October 20th
Birds of Prey Preview is scheduled for November 3rd
