Lee County Chamber hosts big fundraiser

September 28, 2006

Albany -- The Lee County Chamber of Commerce raises money to help pay for the services it provides members year-round.

This John Deere tractor was up for grabs in the reverse raffle by the chamber at tonight's big fundraising event.

There were several retail and business vendors, a silent auction, and lots of food.

Chamber members say it's also a good time for members to come out and network.

"I came out today to support the Lee County Chamber and the community and offer our services, let people know that we're here, available to help them. We donated some items to the silent auction," said Jim Thompson of South Georgia Power Washers.

"Last year we made about $10,000 again we hope to do that every year. I think we will suffice that this year. We have some great silent and live auction items which will bring extra money in as well as ticket sales," said Chamber marketing director Becky Belcher.

Lee County Chamber of Commerce members donated all items for the fundraiser.
