Albany--  It won't be long before cold weather hits, and now is the time to prepare you're home.

If you have windows that let air in when they are closed, you should caulk them.

Doors that don't shut? Get weather strips. If you can't afford to buy materials, improvise, putting towels and blankets against the cracks where cold air could get in.

WG&L's Mary A. Petty says, "Now is the time. October is the best time to do this because this is what we call our shoulder month. It's not cold, it's not hot, so it's easy to go out and take care of those things."

Don't forget to wrap you're pipes as well. And change your air filters once a month.
