Valdosta -- Valdosta State defensive back Sherard Reynolds has been named the Gulf South Conference Special Teams player of the week.
The Sophomore from Colquitt County gaining 168 yards on five punt returns in the Blazers 51-14 win over Arkansas State.
The 168 total yards establishes a new single game record for Valdosta State, breaking the old mark of 102 yards set by Eric Doggett against Henderson State in 1999.
The total is also the second-most by an individual in Gulf South Conference history, behind only 215 yards accumulated by Troy State's Virgil Seay against West Alabama in 1979.
