Americus - - A couple raising three children with Down Syndrome are back from a trip to New York City thanks to the help of some WALB viewers.
Rusty and Cynthia Medrano took their three children to Time Square last week. It was part of the National Down Syndrome Society's Buddy Walk.
The Medrano children were chosen to grace a billboard in Time Square. The Medrano's didn't think they would be able to afford the trip when they learned their children were selected, that's when several viewers contacted us to help.
One of those viewers is Michael Grubbs, the owner of Moultrie Chevrolet Cadillac, who donated $3,000.
"I'm not even sure words can begin to touch on how much appreciation we have for what they did. You're talking about total strangers that didn't even know a thing about us. That goes to say a lot about some of the people in this world," says Rusty Medrano.
The Medrano's plan to attend another Buddy Walk next month. This one will be a little closer to home though. It will be held in Atlanta.
