Valdosta -- Valdosta City council voted 4-3 last night to delay the renaming of Barber Park for up to 90 days. The decision was made after a committee was put together by council to rename the park.
That committee recommended that the park be renamed to Veterans Memorial Park, but council decided to seek the approval of local veterans groups before making the change.
"The City Manager will contact local veterans groups to see if they agree with the recommendation," said Mayor John Fretti. "Not for any monetary purposes for contribution or for some sort of monument but to see if they agree."
Valdosta City council did vote to ban the sell alcohol in adult entertainment businesses inside the city limits.
