Valdosta -- A group of South Georgia firefighters raises money for a good cause.  The Valdosta Fire Department is conducting its annual boot drive.

Fight fighters will be stationed outside Wal-Mart on Inner Perimeter Road and Norman Drive and the Winn-Dixie on Madison Highway encouraging shoppers to help "fill their boots" to raise money for muscular dystrophy.

"Traditionally the fire service has always been involved with Jerry's kids," said Valdosta Fire Chief J. D. Rice. "Over 30 years fire departments across the country have done this. The need is so great."

Rice and his crews hope to raise $10,000 this weekend.
