Albany - The Sherwood Christian offense this season was expecting to put the football in the air behind quarterback Jason Townsend.
But with Townsen out with a shoulder injury, senior running back Brandon Cody has stepped up for the Eagles.
Dr. Paul Michas of Orthopaedic Associates presentied Brandon with this week's player of the week award at the Sherwood Christian Academy gym on Wednesday.
Last week, Cody rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles win over Randolph-Southern.
In three games, Cody has ran for 375 yards and four touchdowns.
Brandon Cody said "I put a little pressure on myself. I felt that Gerry and the offensive linemen they stepped up. The linemen did great blocking and Gerry just keeps, just keeps things going."
The Eagles hope quarterback Jason Townsend will be cleared to play in the next week or two.
Sherwood Christian hosts Valwood Friday night at eight o'clock.
