Albany - Officials hope to have the second portion of the Albany's Riverwalk ready next spring.

Five Bids were submitted by companies to build the two mile extension to the trail next to the Flint River. The current walk is from Veteran's Park to Third Avenue. The extension would go from Third Avenue north to the Cleve Cox Landing on Philema Road.

"It should have lots of benches for people to stop and rest along the way," says A.T.I. President Thomas Chatmon. "Trash cans of course. Some shaded areas, wildlife overlooks, and some scenic areas and decks. Should be a very, very nice trail."

Chatmon said they hope to have construction underway by October. Long term plans call for the Riverwalk to connect Radium Springs to the Parks at Chehaw on both sides of the River.
