Albany -- High dropout rates are directly related to higher crime rates, and Albany City Commissioners want more emphasis placed on education.

Next month, an education summit will be held for anyone involved with or interested in the Dougherty County School system and how its working to improve the success rate for students.

Commissioner Dorothy Hubbard says you can't bring jobs to the community if the workforce isn't well educated. "Everything is intermingled, the crime, the poverty, the drop out rate is all related to whether we are going to be able to sustain ourselves as a community."

The education summit will be held at the Albany Municipal Auditorium at 7:00 PM on October 17th.
