Cyclists are breaking away

September 15, 2006

Albany -- Several hundred bicyclists will be rolling down Southwest Georgia roads Saturday.

The Pecan City Pedalers expect more than 300 bicyclists to take part in their third annual Nut Roll Saturday. The riders will leave the Parks at Chehaw at 8:00 AM, ride to Leesburg, Bronwood, Plains, and back.

Organizers ask drivers to use caution. "Please watch out for the cyclists, and share the road," said Jim Anne Brett of the Pecan City Pedalers. "That's the main thing. We hope that motorist will just respect us and understand that we are a vehicle too. Drive with caution, and slow down."

The Nut Roll is a pleasure ride, not a race. It will cover up to 100 miles for the bikers. The money raised by the event will benefit the Parks at Chehaw.
