Calhoun County --  A Mitchell County man injured during a wreck last week in Calhoun County remains hospitalized.

Sixty-year-old Richard Bell was driving west on Highway 264 toward Calhoun County when a police officer saw him weaving. The officer tried to stop him, but he kept going.

He eventually side-swiped a tractor trailer rig, hit another pickup truck, and his own pickup burst into flames.

Bell was either thrown out or crawled out of the burning wreckage.

His family says Bell is diabetic and his blood sugar level dropped and he was disoriented.    He remains in critical condition.
