Cairo- Some students at Southside Elementary in Cairo returned from the weekend to new classrooms.
The 14 classroom addition at Southside Elementary was completed last week, four weeks later than expected. Community volunteers and teachers moved into the new classrooms over the weekend.
"We started Friday afternoon and really finished Saturday morning and then Sunday they spent time setting up the rooms," said Charlie McBee, Southside Principal.
The new addition will house pre-K, Kindergarten, and first graders. The building they had been in was built in 1938 and lacked space and more modern conveniences, like sinks that the new classroom now have.
