Ford takes on Chevy in Labor Day race

September 3, 2006

Albany -- Race car drivers revved their engines for the annual Labor Day race at the U-S 19 dragway.

It's the third day of the Budweiser Labor Day Weekend Blowout. Today's race puts drivers who drive Fords against those who drive Chevys.

Ford fans plan on taking the lead, but Chevy drivers say "think again."

"What do you have to say to the people driving Ford cars today? Good luck, they best have good luck, because today they're going to have bad luck," said Chevy driver Willie Childs.

"This is a 847 350 motor, and it's capable of running a quarter mile in 8.5 seconds," said Willie Peters.

Willie Peters say his Ford is fast and can outrun all the Chevys. The race will feature up to 150 car, truck, and motorcycle racers.

It will continue until 11 tonight at the dragway.
