Valdosta - Former Colquitt County Packer Sherard Reynolds made an immediate impact at Valdosta State where he was the Blazers third leading receiver last year as a true freshman.
He caught 38 passes and seven touchdowns.
VSU head coach Chris Hatcher doesn't forget anything.
And he remembed that Reynolds also was a great defensive back in high school.
So with the Blazers having to replace two safeties, the VSU coaches moved Reynolds to defense and will be the starting free safety Saturday night against Albany State.
Sherard Reynolds said "I played defense in high school so I am used to. Coach Hatcher asked me to play and I told him yes. As long as I am on the field I am happy with it."
Reynolds days on offense are not over at Valdosta State. Blazer coaches plan to use him on both offense and defense later in the season.
