Valdosta - A South Georgia state senator is recognized for his contribution to the state's health care issues.
The Georgia Academy of Family Physicians named State Senator Tim Golden a Legislative Champion of Family Medicine.
Since taking office, Golden has been actively involved in the South Georgia health care system and working to keep health care providers in rural areas. "If you take out those rural hospitals, many of which are folding their tents and with the new CMO coming, it's getting worse. If you loose your health care providers, nurses, doctors, your hospitals, those towns will dry up and go away," Senator Golden said.Earlier this year, the Georgia Hospital Association gave Golden its Legislative Leadership Award.
