A new warning tonight about the dangers of West Nile Virus.

Mosquitoes that carry the disease were found in south Albany. Entomologists placed mosquito traps around Whitney and Highland Avenues.

Mosquitoes caught in the 500 block of Whitney tested positive for West Nile.

If you're bitten by an infected mosquito, you could develop flu-like symptoms. The disease can be deadly.

To avoid it, you should use insect repellents, eliminate standing water around your home, and dress appropriately when outside.
