Albany -- The Sherwood Christian football team advanced to the first round the state playoffs last season, and Eagles head coach Jimmy Fields will be counting heavily on senior leadership as he enters his fifth season with SCA.
Coach Fields says his team is ready to hit the field Friday night.
"All the running drills, all the preseason camps, it all leads up to this. It's game week."
After a month of preseason, the Eagles preparation changes this week.
Senior Michael Storm says, "It's a lot more organized, and it's a lot more concentrated on the one team we're going to be playing this week. It's more intense. One heartbeat. We're all together."
Fields says, "We game plan a little bit. Talk about Terrell offensively and defensively. What they like to do, and what we need to do in order to win the football game."
Sherwood faces a tough task their first game.
Storm says, "We know we got Terrell. We know they're a good team. We know we're going to have to work hard, but we're confident."
Kyle Stoner adds, "I'm real excited. I've been looking forward to this forever. I'm tired of scrimmaging, I'm ready to get it going."
The SCA seniors will be looking to lead this season.
"There's something different this year," says Stoner. "I don't know what it is, but there's something different about this years seniors."
Fields says, "Any time you have senior leadership, with that good of a number, ten kids, as far as coaching and preparing the team it's like having ten coaches on the field."
Sherwood Christian opens at home against Terrell Academy Friday night.
