Dawson -- The start of the high school football season is exactly one week away.
Terrell County has been known as a basketball school, the Greenwave are building a winning reputation on the gridiron under head coach Vince Huff.
Just two years after an 0-10 season, Terrell County won eight games and hosted a state playoff game.
Head coach Vince Huff says, "We are proud of what we accomplished last year but at the same time we are not going to live on it ."
A lot of what Terrell County accomplished last year was due to the play of quarterback Dontravius Harris who is back for his senior season.
Harris says, "My teammates and coaches give me the confidence and talk to me and stuff. Motivate me to do better."
The Greenwave offense also returns split Terrence Hughey and running back Robert Buford.
But the offensive line is missing four starters.
Huff says, "They don't have much experience. They worked hard all summer but they just don't that experience that group that graduated had."
The defense must also replace seven starters but the secondary should be strong with safeties DeMario Harvey and Nicholas Morman and linebacker Brian Bogan.
Huff says, "We feel like as long as we keep the kids in good position we should be okay defensively."
Perhaps the biggest change this season for Terrell County is the move to region 1-A.
Huff says, "Every week is going to be a tough region game for us. Hopefully we will just be able to survive it."
The Greenwave open the season at home September first against Monroe.
