Albany -- Women in Albany are empowered against violence and abuse during a conference at the Civic Center.

Jackie Porter Ministries is hosting the Women Breaking the Silence Conference for more than 200 women. The three-day event encourages women to come forward about physical, mental, and sexual abuse.

Pastor Jackie Porter says people can learn from others who've survived abusive relationships.

"I bring in women all over the state of Florida and Georgia and I allow them to share their testimony and share their problem of overcoming certain situations in life," said Pastor Jackie Porter of New Life Deliverance Ministry.

The seminar includes testimony, teaching, prayer, and worship. It is open to the public at the Civic Center tomorrow and Saturday night.
