Americus - - A New York Times Best Selling Author made a stop in Americus today.

Sharyn McCrumb wrote 'St. Dale'. It's a fiction novel dedicated to former nascar race driver Dale Earnhardt.

McCrumb gave autographs and people young and old alike grabbed their own copies. She says the book is a tribute to a friend.

"Its a tribute to Dale Earnhardt. In fact, the last time I did a signing was Monday with Dale Earnhardt's mother Martha in Cannoplois where she lives and I've become friends with all of Dale's friends and his mother and were working on a non-fiction book together," says Author Sharyn McCrumb.

'St. Dale' is McCrumb's 19th book. It is also received honors as the 2006 Book of the Year from the Appalachian Writers Association.

The author is a finalist for a People's Choice Award, to be announced in October.
