Transition inmate faces escape charges

August 16, 2006

Albany -- An inmate who went missing from the Albany Transitional Center Monday is behind bars and now facing escape charges.

45 year old Lee Tukes turned himself into authorities Tuesday.

Department of Correction officials say Tukes got scared after his employer reported he was late for work, and ran away.

Tukes was finishing a sentence for a burglary conviction.

Tukes is now facing escape charges and could face longer prison time. He has been transferred to the Lee State prison.
