Albany - When they were presented with their rings last year for winning Darton's first ever national junior college title, the Cavalier golf team pledged they would be getting a second ring this year.
And the Cavalier golf team lived up to their word.
The jewelry giveaway was Thursday at Cavalier Arena where the Darton golf team was presented with their rings for winning their second consecutive National Junior College championship back in May.
Sophomores Brent Witcher and Ryan Parker also earned all-American honors for a second straight year and freshman Troy Bartkowicz was a second team all-American selection.
The second national title capped an unbelievable run for the four sophomores. In their two year career, Darton played in 22 tournaments.
The Cavaliers won 19 of those tournaments, finished second in two and the worst finish during in the last two years was fifth place.
Michael Gordy said "I thought about maybe winning one before I started playing college golf. But now to have two is unbelievable."
Ryan Parker said "That was our goal last year was to repeat because that is the hardest thing to is repeat."
The four sophomores will be continuing their golf careers.
Brent Witcher is headed to the University of Georgia, Ryan Wilson to Armstrong Atlantic University, Ryan Parker from Lake Park is headed to Columbus State and Michael Gordy has signed with Augusta State.
