Valdosta - When the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club opened in Valdosta a few years ago, the club's goal was to host a major tournament.
And that will happen in April.
The PGA's Nationwide Tour will play the first ever South Georgia Classic at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club on the week of April 9-15.
The Nationwide Tour serves as a developmental tour for the PGA's main tour with many of its current players started their careers on the Nationwide circuit.
Albany native Josh Broadaway finished in 14th place in the Nationwide Tour's Cox Classic this past weekend in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Davis Love, III design Kinderlou course can play as long as 7780 yards from the championship tees.
South Georgia Medical Center Foundation will serve as the host organization and charitable proceeds will go to the hospital.
The tournament will be presented by Langdale Industries.
Kinderlou Forest, ranked as one of the top new courses in the nation when it opened, will host a Hooters Tour tournament next month.
