Precincts prepare for voters

August 7, 2006

Albany - Setup is underway for voting in tomorrow's primary election runoff. In Dougherty County, poll workers were busy today setting up touch-screen machines. All precincts will be open from 7 AM to 7 PM for voting.

Linton James says, "We're trying to get all the machines set up in all the right precincts, and what not, so we're running back and forth trying to get in contact with people where we can get access to areas to set the machines up." Because school is in session, voters at Westover won't vote in the gym tomorrow. Instead, they will vote in the school lobby.

There was decent turnout last week for advanced voting, 175 people showed up to vote early, 225 people sent in absentee ballots and more could arrive tomorrow.
